Potentia Energy, a Houston-based retail energy provider, is one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., and the firm's co-founder Anis Charania says he plans to keep the business in the family.
According to the Houston Business Journal, Charania started Potentia in 2007, and it has since made it to the top of the media outlet's Fast 100 list, which details the hottest companies to come out of the Houston area.
Already, Charania's three oldest daughters have strong roles in the company, which is run by 14 employees and posted a revenue of $22.2 million in 2011. This level of revenue helped send the company to the top of the Fast 100 list, as it marked a 19,918 percent increase compared with revenue from 2009.
The retail energy supplier provides electricity to about 15,000 customers throughout Texas, and Charania says this is just the beginning.
Potentia Energy says it prides itself on having no formal complaints from the Texas Public Utilities Commission in the five years it has been operational – a strong enough track record that led it to receive the 2011 and 2012 Better Business Bureau Winner of Distinction Award for commitment to ethics and excellent.
