Nearly a decade after electricity deregulation went into effect, Texas residents continue to see increasing options among electricity providers.
Infinite Energy, an electricity supplier founded in Gainesville, Florida, in 1994, has continued its steady expansion throughout Texas by opening up to customers of three new utility companies: American Electric Power North, AEP Central and Texas-New Mexico Power, or TNMP.
After expanding its natural gas services throughout Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York and Texas, the company took the opportunity provided by power deregulation in the state to start offering electricity as well.
"It was our mission to be able to provide electricity in all areas in Texas by the end of 2011," Darin Cook, chief executive officer of Infinite Energy, said in a statement. "We feel we offer the best products for residents. Now that the West Texas area is open, those residents can also enjoy our products."
In addition to the three new utilities, Infinite Energy also serves as an alternative electricity provider for Oncor and Centerpoint. The additions will bring more than 1 million Texans a new option to compare electricity rates.
