FirstEnergy Solutions, an Ohio-based electricity supplier, has introduced a new two-year-long contract for AEP Ohio (Columbus Southern) customers that easily beats many of the electricity rates in the state.
At 6.69 cents per kilowatt-hour, the contract beats the average Ohio residential electricity price through June by nearly 40 percent, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Through the first half of the year, electricity rates had remained largely the same from last year, falling only 0.05 cents per kilowatt-hour.
"Shopping for an electric generation supplier is one of the easiest ways to save money," Julie Hextell, senior vice president of retail sales & marketing for FirstEnergy, said in a statement. "With this offer, we're encouraging residents in AEP Ohio's service area to compare their current generation rate to our low fixed price – and see how much they can save simply by signing up."
Residents can easily compare electricity prices by checking the Price to Compare on their electric bills.
