Texas is the US leader in producing crude oil. In fact, Texas produces more oil than the nation’s offshore oil plants. In 2016, Texas was producing more than 5.4 million barrels of crude oil each day. However, crude oil isn’t the only source of energy Texas produces. In 2015, they were also the leading producer of natural gas producing 27% of the nation’s total natural gas. Texas also leads the nation in wind energy production and lignite coal production.
