Newport residents, along with the rest of the state, are very energy efficient throughout the year. On average, the state’s residents use 32% less energy than the rest of the nation. Being the smallest state in the US, it is also the 2nd most densely populated with over 500,000 residents. Rhode Island is one of the lowest energy consuming states per capita.
